As a leading research and advocacy organization, we bring our commitment to progressive policy to the Washington State Legislature. Since 1998, we’ve fought for economic justice in the halls of Olympia, and we’ve won. The Paid Family & Medical Leave program supports workers at their most vulnerable moments; Cascade Care gives people access to more affordable health care plans; and the Millionaires Tax was a major step toward fixing Washington’s upside-down tax code.

Progressive Revenue
Washington’s tax code is upside down. We need a balanced tax system where we all pay our fair share and public revenue sustainably funds the services our communities and economy rely on to grow.
Health care
Lawmakers can make health care more accessible and affordable for all by controlling costs, expanding corporate accountability, increasing subsidies, and eventually shifting to a universal health care system.
Dignified Work & Resilient Communities
Good jobs with fair wages, strong benefits, and safe conditions are the bedrock of dignified work, thriving communities, and a stable economy. And no one should have to choose between going to work and caring for themselves or a loved one.
