Over the past several weeks, EOI – as a member of the Seattle Coalition for a Healthy Workforce(opens in new tab) – has worked closely with a number of Seattle’s small business leaders toward the shared goal of creating a healthier Seattle through paid sick days.
The result is a new “common ground” proposal(opens in new tab) that will ensure all people working in Seattle have paid sick time for basic health needs, while providing flexibility for the unique circumstances of Seattle’s diverse small businesses.
The proposal was introduced at a June 21st press conference by Councilmember Nick Licata, and has growing support, including more than 70 community organizations(opens in new tab) and nearly 20 local small business owners(opens in new tab).
Speakers at the press conference included EOI’s own Marilyn Watkins, Councilmember Nick Licata, Cupcake Royale owner Jody Hall, and Mayor Mike McGinn, among others.
