Make sure October 1 is marked on your calendar – especially if you’re uninsured. That’s the day enrollment opens to purchase health insurance through the Washington Healthplanfinder, the new online marketplace for health benefits. Intended to increase access to affordable health care coverage, the Healthplanfinder is a one-stop shop for purchasing health care coverage under Obamacare.
Through the website, Washington residents will be able to “find, compare and enroll in health insurance,” and determine how much financial assistance they’ll receive through federal tax credits. According to the Washington Health Benefit Exchange:
- A family of 4 making less than $32,500 can qualify for free health coverage.
- A family of 4 making up to $40,000 can qualify for an estimated $985 in tax credits per month.
- A family of 4 making up to $90,000 can qualify for an estimated $436 in tax credits per month.
You can see if you qualify for a tax credit and get an estimate of your monthly premium with this great health cost calculator. There is a calculator for individuals and families, as well as one for small businesses.
Insurance coverage through the exchange will begin January 1, 2014.
